embedded award 2026: Start-up nominees
Young companies are driving technological development. The start-up scene in the embedded industry is correspondingly lively. Reason enough to dedicate a separate category to start-ups at the embedded award. Take a look at the future of the industry …

An AI platform for embedded systems, a cloud native architecture for microcontrollers, and an operating system bridging real time and high performance computing

Embedder
Exhibitor: Embedder
Hall/Booth: 2-412b
Embedder is an AI platform purpose-built for embedded systems development. It converts datasheets, register maps, and timing diagrams into an AI knowledge base, allowing developers to generate firmware, diagnose hardware issues, and optimize configurations with simple natural language.
Its core innovation is a multimodal parsing pipeline that preserves document structure and translates block diagrams and timing charts into machine-readable formats. Combined with a hardware knowledge graph, Embedder understands relationships between clocks, registers, buses, and peripherals, enabling context-aware reasoning. A query like "Optimize SPI throughput" produces correct, dependency-aware code modifications.
A key differentiator is the closed-loop verification system: Embedder performs Software-in-the-Loop and Hardware-in-the-Loop testing, validating generated code directly against simulation targets or physical devices. This catches hallucinations and inconsistencies early, before they reach production.
By generating precise, optimized C/C++ code and reducing error-driven development cycles, Embedder shortens time to market, lowers verification burden, and extends the lifetime of low-power IoT and edge devices through more efficient firmware.
"Myrmic" und "EdgeVance"
Exhibitor: Peeriot GmbH
Hall/Booth: 2-639g
Myrmic and EdgeVance bring the simplicity and scalability of modern cloud architectures to the world of microcontrollers and edge devices. While embedded development is still highly fragmented—requiring developers to manually integrate message brokers, databases, and orchestration layers—Myrmic and EdgeVance provide a unified runtime environment that includes all of these components out of the box.
At the core is a WASM based “Cell” model that encapsulates compute, state, and identity, running unchanged across Linux gateways as well as bare metal/RTOS microcontrollers. The platform automatically handles messaging, persistence, and workload placement, replacing the traditional stack of microservices, containers, and external databases with a single, integrated execution model.

The system provides a Self Organization Layer (SOL) that autonomously compensates for failures by relocating Cells across nodes—entirely independent of cloud connectivity. The integrated DataLayer ensures local data sovereignty, resilient on premise storage, and consistent state management without external infrastructure.
The USP: true hardware independence, autonomous edge failover, local data sovereignty, and a cloud like development model tailored specifically for embedded systems—available both as open source and as an enterprise grade product.

M8 operating system
Exhibitor: Sqrrl
Hall/Booth: 4-604
The M8 operating system bridges the growing gap between traditional real-time operating systems and high-performance general-purpose OS. It combines deterministic real-time behaviour with the flexibility of modern Linux-based development—delivering a single, certifiable platform for automotive, aerospace, industrial, and defence applications.
Its innovative microkernel design guarantees the strictest isolation for the highest safety and security requirements. But it also supports native POSIX and Linux APIs to target multi-core heterogeneous systems-on-chip, enabling frictionless reuse of Linux code from legacy and/or prototype solutions without time consuming rewrites.
Virtualisation and containerisation are also natively supported. But they are designed as integrated into the strict M8 partitioning logic so that containers enjoy full isolation exactly as virtual machines. This unique design guarantees a uniquely flexible approach to the freedom from interference required for ASIL D, SIL 4, or DAL A certifications.
The result is a new safe and secure operating system. M8 is a platform offering 10× higher computational efficiency and up to 50% lower integration costs. With fully European IP sovereignty, modular architecture, and native virtualisation, M8 enables the fastest consolidation of multiple ECUs onto a single SoC—resource efficient, energy optimised, and built for long-term sustainability.
