Key Facts
- UWB revolutionizes Keyless Entry: Precise Time-of-Flight measurement ensures secure distance tracking, making relay attacks impossible. But there is more: Combined with Radar and IMU, UWB enables advanced access methods. These include gesture recognition, gait authentication, foot-taps, or unlocking by simply rotating toward the vehicle.
- Automated EV Charging via UWB: Whether using a robotic arm or underbody induction, automated charging requires extreme precision. UWB is the key: It not only guides the vehicle to park autonomously in the charging zone but also manages the fine adjustment. This ensures plugs and sockets or induction pads align perfectly – safely and automatically.
- UWB Tags – Stop Searching: Locate tagged keys or phones precisely via web interface or app – whether in the car, at home, or at work (Item Finder). Plus, the Item Reminder ensures you never leave essentials behind: The car checks if your phone or ID badge is on board before you start, warning you immediately to save you annoying return trips.

UWB Ranging – Localization
UWB technology enables precise measurement of the signal propagation time between two UWB sensors (initiator and responder), allowing the distance between the two to be determined based on the speed of light. If a setup contains multiple devices with a UWB sensor (also referred to as UWB nodes or UWB anchors), the distances from the initiator to all responders can be determined.
In such a setup the precise position of an UWB sensor can be determined from the individual measured distances to the UWB anchors using algorithmic localization methods (e.g., tri- or multilateration). Additional algorithmic signal enhancement methods (e.g., noise suppression, weighted averaging, machine learning, filtering) can significa ...Download
