Why Should an IoT Sensor Maker Care About the Blockchain?
In the future, sensor data will be transferred to the cloud for processing in complicated IoT architectures. In this talk I will explain the advantages of a blockchain network structure for this information distribution as compared to a centralized database in Industrial IoT applications. The data from edge sensors (e.g. cameras) is transferred to the smart contracts on the blockchain through an intermediary called an Oracle. I will use examples from the Ethereum chain. I also explain the problems associated with trying to keep the system free from 'Trusted-Third-Parties' both to keep costs down and to keep the system verifiable and trustworthy. Problems with the trustworthiness of the data will be described, as well as possible solutions.
