Open Source Software in Certified Medical Devices: Just How Safe is It? Vortragssprache Englisch

This session addresses the requirements for using embedded Linux or Android in certified medical designs on heterogeneous multicore system-on-chip (SoC) architectures. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the key issues and challenges encountered when developing software on these complex systems and how to realize the full potential of the device. The discussion highlights the obstacles developers face when seeking new approaches to efficiently utilizing embedded Linux or Android in safety critical designs that deploy various operating systems. Participants will learn about the guidelines of using Linux or Android in a medical device that requires certification. With these guidelines, developers and system architects will be able to create a solid and robust foundation to design a medical device that could, if needed, be certified to IEC 62304.
