From the Optical Microscope to the Digital 3D Camera Monitor System
Together with SeeFront, the Hamburg-based developer of glasses-free 3D screens, Solectrix is developing the Aegolus 3D live system. Aegolus realizes an exact 3D image in real time through sophisticated high-performance data processing. The system stands for glasses-free 3D, 4K-UHD resolution and low latency. As an upgrade for optical stereo microscopes it is universally applicable.
The compact high-end image display system consists of a 3D camera system (Solectrix) and a 3D monitor (SeeFront). It is to be used either as a complete system or as an upgrade for existing optical stereo microscope systems (see photo).
The tiny camera heads deliver up to 30 frames per second in razor-sharp 4K UHD resolution. The image sensor captures the image data and forwards it to image processing and 3D rendering. Solectrix' "real 3D" concept ensures synchronous recording of image data, with processing within a single FPGA guaranteeing consistent image properties. The patented SeeFront 3D technology uses eye tracking to determine the viewer's position. The 3D image is optimized for the viewer and displayed on the 3D monitor in real time. You can choose between 15.6″ and 32″ screens. The previously complex adjustment of 3D camera systems in microscopes is facilitated in the SeeFront monitor by an electronic correction of the image.
The applications of Aegolus are versatile, ranging from sophisticated diagnostic work in laboratory or industrial manufacturing to application in medical microscopy. The user can work completely freely - without obstructive aids such as the usual 3D glasses and independently of the eyepiece of an optical microscope – in good ergonomic posture and thus fatigue-free.
