The sensor interface system with extended functionality for the compact TinyNode processor board was developed for the use in the mountains, to measure temperatures and movement of the rock in the permafrost region
The system allows connection of a wide variety of different sensors with different interfaces to measure various environment variables. The sensor data is stored in the device itself being sent at regular intervals to a central station.
Daily temperature variations of over 60°C, the low temperatures of -30°C, small physical space envelope and 3 year battery life formed the basis of the high demands on the design and development of the system. Naturally, all components used had to be specified for use in these hazardous environmental conditions
The devices are currently in use on the Matterhorn and the Jungfraujoch.
