Within the wide range of applications for sensors, there are an increasing number of scenarios in which cables can only be installed with difficulty or not at all. The solution is one of the sensor platforms from AED, which can measure various values completely wireless.
With our wireless measurement system for the automotive sector you can read out up to 8 Slaves with one Master. Thanks to the small size (60 x 15 mm) of the IP67-case and the temperature resistance from -40 °C to 85°C (Master) and -40°C to 105°C (Slave) as well as the vibration stability the system is perfect for various different services. Seeing that the slaves need no cables for power supply or communication with the master you can place them in and around the car where ever you want. The Slaves come with integrated inclination- and vibration sensors. Additionally you can attach and read any sensors with digital or analog output. The data is sent to the Master via UWB communication and is forwarded from there via CAN or Ethernet. The configuration tool integrated on the Master enables you to allocate the sensors, determine the parameters for communication (UWB frequency, CAN communication) and read the live data and remaining battery charge. The frequency band can be configured from 3.5 to 6.5 GHz. This ensures that you can use the system abiding the local radio regulations. The sensors get their power from the batteries of the Slaves.
Apart from this application we have further sensor platforms based on the IEEE standard 802.15.4 and solutions based on Bluetooth and Bluetooth Low Energy(BLE, Bluetooth 4.0). We integrated certain sensors on all our platforms, made them modularly extendable and ensured low energy consumption as well as small size.
To retrieve data from your wireless sensor network and configure sensors on your computer it's best to use the AED Rabbit. It allows you to connect your sensor network to an Ethernet network. The integrated website gives you the possibility to adjust the AED Rabbit and sensors according to your application.
