Powering Sigfox Nodes with Harvested Energy
Sigfox is one of the popular LPWAN technologies of the Internet of Things. Like many other wireless protocols, it is mainly used with batteries, which leads to important maintenance costs and slows down its acceptance. Allowing such systems to work on harvested energy will facilitate their use. In this presentation, we will explain the way Sigfox works, its advantages and disadvantages with regard to other popular LPWAN technologies. We will then talk about the energy requirements of a battery-less Sigfox node and introduce our design. Finally, we will discuss the results and performances of the system.
