Modeling and Code Generation for Safety Critical Systems
Designing and implementing a safety related multicore system is certainly not a trivial task. First, there is the need for an appropriate software architecture, which is considering safety considerations. Then, the code needs to be written according to this specification and finally there is the need to assess the result in terms of safety requirements. Together with the FZI Research Center for Information Technology and the company HighTec, we investigated if a modeling and code generation tool for safety related systems can be realized using open source solutions such as the Eclipse Modeling Framework (EMF). In this presentation, we will demonstrate how the developed tool unifies architectural and safety aspects and how an entire multicore runtime environment can be generated using EMF. We will also focus on the technical aspects of the multicore runtime environment and show how multicore software architectures can be realized using standard RTOS features.
