From a platform selection, through platform depended SDK of mayor OTT services, middleware (DVB, ATSC) featuring: DLNA, HbbTV, MHEG, PVR, CI Plus, to HTML and Java application level, RT-RK offers complete development, customization, and integration services for connected, content protected, broadcast and broadband digital receivers and gateways on Linux and Android.
On the OS level we provide kernel adaptations/extensions, porting and integrations of 3rd party devices/drivers as well as real time optimizations. Customization of Chipset SDK includes porting of peripherals, porting and integration of 3rd party software components, SDK adaptations to support product specific requirements (second screen, IPTV protocol stacks, etc.), and Media playback improvements (different codec and containers support, synchronization).
Middleware encounters: DTV middleware porting on various chipsets/platforms, Native integration of TV middleware in Android and Linux operating system, DTV middleware upgrade to be compliant with the latest specifications (ATSC, DVB), porting and integration of 3rd party software components (CI Plus, MHEG-5, DLNA, HbbTV, OTT services, etc.), and TV middleware adaptations to support product specific requirements (country specific specifications, broadcast signaling, etc.).
On the Application level we provide customization of DTV applications in: HTML4/HTML5/CE-HTML, Java UI framework, Maestro UI toolkit, RT-RK’s C-More UI/UX Framework based on Open GL/ES, and SVG. We also provide services of connection with head-end: configuration, firmware upgrade, and parameter monitoring; precertification, and testing.
Automotive SW development
Providing services to some of the world's leading vendors in the area of dependable networking solutions based on time-triggered technology and modular safety platforms, RT-RK has built know-how on safety critical software development in several areas including automotive, aerospace andindustrial. We have participated in software development according to ISO26262, DO254, DO 178B and IEC61508 standards and software components in accordance with AutoSAR specifications. The applications are being developed on various safety oriented platforms including TI TMS 570, Freescale MPC5xxx, Renesas V850 and others. We have worked with CAN, LIN and Flexray interfaces and have all necessary equipment to log and/or generate traffic on these interfaces. We have developed applications that filter or classify signals from these busses, do triggered recording, and visualization of these signals. We have also implemented software modules such as SNMP protocol module for highly constrained runtime environments with minimum memory footprint. In addition, Windows drivers for PCIe cards used in time triggered networking applications as endpoints or simulation nodes for testing and development purposes
We have state-of-the-art tools like QA-C that ensure code quality according to MISRA coding guidelines. The software testing we provide includes black box functional and requirements testing, as well as 100% code coverage white box testing including MC/DC.
In years long experience of working with SCADA systems we have developed an original solution of a SCADA system based on industrial PC technology verified and proven in practice, including the following types of products:

A computer engineering journey
In 1991, a small group of professors working at the University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Technical Sciences, Chair for Computer Engineering, launched first projects in the area of telephony and digital signaling protocols. Their interest for business has further evolved to automation processes in Serbian oil and gas industry, in projects for gas pipeline management. Recognizing the benefits of the University environment, they have established a company named FTN-IRAM-RT. Excellent technical expertise and backlog on previous engagements of FTN-IRAM-RT attracted Micronas, German semiconductor company, to create a joint venture, a company named MicronasNIT within the same environment and with the same management. MicronasNIT entered the era of expansion in DSP, FPGA and Digital TV technology. In 2005, Serbian Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SIEPA) awarded MicronasNIT as the best exporter of the year in SME (Small and Medium Enterprises) category. Endeavor to grow, experience and knowledge in new technologies and customer service, and world-wide market access as a positive influence of Micronas, emerged a need for a new business model to render the services. The new circumstances gave rise to foundation of a new company, RT-RK. From 2005 to 2009 RT-RK was delivering development services to different non-consumer customers such as — Tegic, Nuance, Magic4, Openwave (mobile phone industry); lighting for Philips and cooperation with ALTRAN in embedded system design. In April 2009, RT-RK acquired MicronasNIT, bringing the two teams under one umbrella, thus becoming the largest SEE company for embedded system design.
In the following years the company has gotten engaged on Android for TV mission and become worldwide recognized as an Android competence center. Recognizing the company’s experience and potential for strategic partnership, Zoran Corporation singled out RT-RK for porting Android on their System on Chip (SoC), joining forces in development of multimedia applications and services for connected TV.
The company has created near shore development centers (NSDC) for different companies: Cirrus Logic for DSP applications, tools, and industrial applications; VESTEL dedicated team for TV and STB software development and testing tools development; MARVELL focused on Android and GoogleTV application and customer support; SMARDTV dedicated team for CAM and STB software development; and the newest member of the NSDC family TTTech team for automotive software development.

Important part of RT-RK business is handling Intellectual Property. A dedicated RT-RK team works on protection of own product and technologies (RT-RK has more than 40 patent applications) and at the same time offers professional IP services.
Ministry of Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia accredited RT-RK Computer Based Systems LLC as a National Research and Development Institute. In their explanation, Advisory Committee stated that the scientific programs of RT-RK contribute to development of new products and devices, introduce new and improve existing technological processes, systems and services, and perform transfer of knowledge and technology. The company has adequate deployment of competent scientific researchers, programs for young developers, and adequate facilities, equipment, and other resources for the implementation of programs of general interest.
