The embedded world Exhibition&Conference 2013 was a complete success. The final result after three intensive days: the exhibition grew and excelled with a new record number of visitors. With 22,547* international embedded experts from 58 countries, even more experts came to Nürnberg for their leading exhibition this year. 868* exhibitors from all over the world presented their latest developments, products and services to visitors and conference participants. embedded world proved its position as the biggest and most important event for the embedded technology sector again in 2013. The accompanying conferences parallel to the exhibition, the embedded world Conference and the electronic displays Conference, also achieved impressive growth in the number of participants.
embedded world has been a permanent feature in the embedded professionals’ calendar of international exhibitions for eleven years. It is the top community gathering for one of the most pioneering sectors. Not only the number of visitors has grown again this year – to 22,547 – but the exhibition has also really increased in size and presented an even more comprehensive range of products in the five halls. Richard Krowoza, Member of the Management Board of NürnbergMesse, describes embedded world 2013 as follows: “The dynamic and spirit of development in the halls could be literally felt. The mood was excellent. This year’s embedded world once again confirms its role as the number 1 event for the international embedded community.”

Dazzling array of information

embedded world 2013 convinced the experts from the very first minute and started with a dazzling array of information that continued during the exhibition and at the conferences: Stuart McClure fascinated the audience with his keynote containing highly topical and new information on embedded security. He made the invisible visible for the participants.

“Stuart McClure’s impressive keynote has shown in a lively and technically detailed way just how important safety and security are for the embedded sector. embedded world has always taken up groundbreaking themes at the right moment and tackled them in depth at the conferences. This was noticeable in the halls again this year, where safety and security topics were also to be seen and heard,” says Alexander Mattausch, Exhibition Manager of embedded world.

Exhibitors impressively confirm embedded world’s lead function

The exhibiting companies also emphasize the importance of the exhibition. More than 87 per cent of the exhibitors said during the event that they would take part in embedded world again in 2014. “embedded world has developed into the leading exhibition for the embedded community. Here we find engineers who understand the products and examine details. embedded world is not just a name, but reality: this is the only exhibition where you meet the world, and many colleagues from the USA and Asia come to Nürnberg extra for this event every year. The number of international decision-makers and developers on our stand has also increased. We’ll certainly be there again in 2014,” says Reinhard Keil, Managing Director, ARM Deutschland.

embedded world is a highly specialized trade fair with a crystal-clear concept, where professionals meet professionals. Here the exhibitors can rely on meeting and approaching the right target groups. 95 per cent of the exhibiting companies confirm that they have reached their target groups and nine out of ten rate their presence at the exhibition in 2013 a success. Udo Nülle, Business Development Manager, Express Logic, emphasizes this: “embedded world is one of our most important events. Here we meet our target groups from all over the world. The exhibition was very successful for us. The quality of the event and the visitors is always very high. We’re already looking forward to 2014.”

Also satisfied with the exhibition and delighted with the professional competence of the visitors, who are praised by over 97 per cent of the exhibitors, is Mark Cieri, Vice President of Sales and Corporate Marketing, Enpirion: “I was very impressed by embedded world 2013. We had numerous fruitful exchanges with visitors at our booth. All were very interested in our latest technologies and products and both sides benefited from the opportunity to meet in person. As an exhibitor, we are looking for either qualified prospects or a way to move the sales process forward. embedded world provides just that, high quality leads.Winning the embedded Award for the world’s lowest-cost PowerSoC surely added a new dimension to our participation at the show. I am happy to say that embedded world generates excellent Return on Investment, which is why we will participate again next year.”

Visitors very satisfied, large share of decision-makers

Virtually all visitors at embedded world are satisfied with their exhibition. More than 96 per cent praised the products on display and the organization of the event. The 87 per cent share of visitors involved in decision-making processes in their company in a decisive, supporting or advisory capacity, was also very large.

In response to the question of which sectors of the economy they work in, 60 per cent of the visitors stated the industry. This branch can be broken down as follows: automotive industry / automotive electronics, industrial controls, test and measurement technology, medical engineering, mechanical engineering, computers/PC peripherals, software and system companies. Other economic sectors mentioned were the service sector, the wholesale trade, teaching and research, public administration and the retail trade.

Concentrated knowledge: the conferences at embedded world

The world-renowned conferences with international speakers, the embedded world Conference and the electronic displays Conference, were also very successful. Both conferences grew again with some 9 per cent more participants. Altogether 1,493 embedded professionals attended the embedded world Conference and electronic displays Conference. This underlines their great importance as information and discussion platforms for the international embedded and display communities.

“The development of the two conferences is extraordinary. Here trends are set and the ground prepared for future developments. The smartest minds from all over the world meet for this purpose in Nürnberg. They exchange views at the highest level and contribute to advancing the sector with their ideas, developments and innovative products,” says Professor Dr.-Ing. Matthias Sturm, HTWK Leipzig, Chairman of the embedded world Conference Committee and the embedded world Exhibition Committee.

The more than 270 first-class presentations at the embedded world Conference offered high-end knowledge transfer on topical matters related to embedded system development. Well-known experts from 22 countries provided first-hand specialist knowledge and again made the conference a real embedded highlight and knowledge tank for the embedded community. This year’s embedded world Conference focused on safety, security and ultra-low power, which were examined from all aspects. With a total of 46 sessions and classes with top speakers, the eleventh embedded world Conference once again emphasized its outstanding importance for the international embedded community.

This year’s electronic displays Conference has once again developed its role as one of the most important platforms in the field of display technologies in Europe. It offered developers, researchers and users extensive and highly topical information on the international display markets and the latest technical solutions. “I am very satisfied that we also succeeded in getting more participants interested in the electronics displays Conference this year. The conference stands for pure specialist knowledge at the highest level. The feedback on our programme and the keynotes with their top speakers was very positive even during the event. I’m already looking forward to next year,” says a delighted Prof. Dr. Karlheinz Blankenbach, Pforzheim University of Applied Sciences, Chairman of the Conference Committee.
