Call for Papers for leading expert forums: embedded world and electronic displays conferences

The 2021 embedded world and electronic displays conferences will bring the embedded community together at Exhibition Centre Nuremberg parallel to the embedded world exhibition from 2 to 4 March. With the Call for Papers for the world’s leading gathering for embedded system developers and key industry platform for display technology, experts from around the world are now invited to submit their papers on new research results. This will allow the two conferences to offer a high-calibre thematic complement to the exhibition and forums taking place in the halls.

From 2 to 4 March 2021, the 19th round of the embedded world conference will be the hub for professionals from a wide range of research and application areas for embedded systems. As a result, the conference is synonymous with intensive knowledge transfer and personal exchanges and promotes the integrated approach to system design. The electronic displays conference is one of the most important platforms in the industry for display technologies as well as a discussion forum for developers, researchers and decision-makers from the international display technology markets.

As always, the two conferences will take place concurrently with the embedded world trade fair in Nuremberg, where exhibitors will show how research results and product innovations from the field of embedded system development are implemented in practice.

Spotlight on the future of embedded systems

The embedded world conference 2021 will put the spotlight on the kind of future-driven topics that have always characterised the congress programme: Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) are two of the industry megatrends that will be discussed in-depth at the conference. The associated applications, many of which have already become part of our everyday lives, are wide-ranging. They include image recognition and embedded vision systems, intelligent (remote) maintenance, technologies for the Internet of Things (IoT), autonomous driving, mini PCs, high-performance Cloud servers and the trend towards edge and fog computing.

At the 2021 embedded world conference, experts will discuss areas that offer outstanding innovative strength and particularly large growth potential, as well as especially challenging projects for system developers.

The embedded world conference 2021 will focus on the following topics:

  • Internet of Things – Platforms & Applications
  • Connectivity Solutions
  • Embedded OS
  • Safety & Security
  • Board Level Hardware Engineering
  • Software & Systems Engineering
  • Embedded Vision
  • Autonomous & Intelligent Systems
  • Embedded Human-Machine-Interface
  • System-on-Chip (SoC) Design

The conference programme will draw on the latest trends in the embedded sector, for example through presentations devoted to embedded vision, autonomous and intelligent systems, connectivity, and safety and security. The latter is becoming a perennial issue, given that there are no longer just functional requirements to be met but protection against cyber-attacks has also become a consistent development objective. In addition, the programme will address the numerous challenges involved when combining heterogeneous elements in complex overall systems.

Professor Axel Sikora, chairman of the embedded world conference, explains: “For the embedded world conference 2021 we are again hoping for papers on  the technologies and solutions for the future, cutting-edge ideas and clever new approaches for the development and operation of secure, networked and energy-efficient embedded systems. Along with our colleagues from the Steering Board and Programme Committee I am looking forward to exciting submissions that are at the forefront of applied research and the current development environment.”

The Calls for Papers & Workshops are open until 30 September 2020. Proposals for a presentation or workshop can be submitted online to: www.embedded-world.eu/call-for-papers

Expert forum electronic displays conference

The electronic displays conference is one of the most important industry platforms in the field of display technologies and in its 35th year will again bring together developers, researchers, and decision-makers. On 3 and 4 March 2021, they will gather in Nuremberg to discuss the latest technical solutions and trends in the international display technology markets. “The electronic displays conference is a byword for knowledge transfer of the highest calibre and professional dialogue on the latest technical approaches in display development. In 2021 it will also address hot topics like micro-LEDs and cutting-edge application scenarios like lighting solutions that are increasingly in demand in the automotive sector, for example,” explains Professor Karlheinz Blankenbach from the University of Pforzheim, who chairs the conference advisory board. The post-session “author interviews” provide yet another source of information for participants in the electronic displays conference.

The designated topics at the electronic displays conference 2021 are as follows:

  • Display technologies
(LCD, OLED, LED, e-paper, flexible displays, (pico) projection, new technologies like micro-LEDs etc.)
  • Display applications
(e-signage, automotive, vehicular, avionic, consumer, industrial, information, medical, mobile, requirements and solutions etc.)
  • Driving and interfaces
(display and graphics controllers, software, FPGA, LVDS, HMDI, embedded DISPLAYPORT, SPI displays etc.)
  • Touch screens
(techniques, technologies, software, optimisations, haptic feedback, gestures, touchless approaches etc.)
  • GUI, HMI
    (software, methods, solutions etc.)
  • 3D
(3D display technologies, reproduction, software, evaluation etc.)
  • Measurement tasks
(display and image quality, ambient light, lifetime etc.)
  • System aspects and integration of components
(embedded systems, mechanics, lifetime, environmental conditions etc.)
  • Display subassemblies
(backlight, surfaces, housing, power supply etc.)

Applications to present at the electronic displays conference can be submitted up to 2 October 2020. For more information and options for submitting your abstract please go to: www.electronic-displays.de/en

Trade fair and congress to be held under the most stringent safety standards

Alongside the embedded world exhibition, the 2020 embedded world and electronic displays conferences were an impressive source of high-calibre professional expertise and welcomed an international contingent of delegates from 46 different countries. The next embedded world exhibition & conference will take place from 2 to 4 March 2021 at Exhibition Centre Nuremberg. Due to the special requirements for exhibition and congress operations expected to continue in 2021, high security standards apply to all events. Parts of the exhibition are already being planned for implementation in digital formats; it will also be possible to participate in the conferences from anywhere in the world. The comprehensive measures for a safe and successful expert dialogue in Nuremberg can be summarized under the keywords distance control, extended hygiene standards and individual registration of all participants.
