Open Source Automation Development Lab (OSADL) eG

The Open Source Automation Development Lab (OSADL) eG is a community for Open Source software in industry. It delivers everything a company needs to successfully use Open Source software and especially Linux in industrial products and generally in embedded systems with particular attention to license compliance.

OSADL provides support on both technical and legal aspects when using Open Source software in industry.

Technical aspects

• Quality assessment and assurance of Open Source software components in the OSADL QA Farm
• Optimization and adaptation of real-time Linux
• Provision of industry-specific Open Source software extensions such as OPC UA PubSub over TSN

Legal aspects I - Open Source license compliance tools: Supporting companies in the license-compliant distribution of Open Source software through:

• General legal support with regard to Open Source software license issues by OSADL's General Counsel

• OSADL regularly offers and organizes a broad range of training courses, seminars, workshops and special events on the above-mentioned topics onsite or online.

OSADL membership

• OSADL is organized as an internationally acting cooperative based in Germany. The business model of the OSADL is based on the principle that most offered services are needed by all or a majority of member companies in the same form, but only have to be developed or provided once. The numerous OSADL member companies belong to the following industries: machine builders, automation hardware, automation software, semiconductor manufacturers and Open Source service providers. OSADL accepts members from all over the world.
