Product information

The FH101RF RFicient® Ultra-low Power Wake-Up Receiver is a three-band receiver that simultaneously receives OOK-modulated signals in the SRD frequency bands 433 MHz, 868 MHz, 915 MHz and 2.4 GHz. With a receiver sensitivity of typically -75 dBm, RFicient® technology enables continuous monitoring of a radio channel with minimal power consumption in the microwatt range and responds in milliseconds. This enables mobile applications with 24/7 connectivity that can achieve a service life of up to 10 years with small batteries. The integrated ULP receiver works without a microcontroller, recognizes two separate wake-up patterns and a 16-bit ID and generates a digital control signal to activate application hardware such as an MCU. Individual RF modules can be addressed directly without the need for a wireless sensor network. Group addressing is also possible. The RFicient® receiver stores data packets in three FIFO buffers and can trigger an IRQ signal to indicate available data, allowing peripheral components to operate in deep sleep mode. The communication uses binary correlators to detect 31-bit preambles and tolerates strong co-channel interference with bit error rates up to 16%.

The RFicient® FH101RF Evaluation Kit provides a comprehensive evaluation and development environment for the FH101RF receiver. It includes two development boards, antennas, software, documentation and connection cables to evaluate all functions of the receiver in a time-saving manner and to implement application-specific configurations. Fraunhofer RFicient® technology and a powerful SOC from SiliconLabs are integrated on the boards, enabling reception and transmission over the supported frequency bands. The board can be operated autonomously with a CR2032 button cell, with a current consumption of less than 4 µA in receive mode. The functionality is determined by the configurable firmware of the microcontroller, whereby the user can choose between supplied and self-developed firmware. A programming interface is also available.

The compact FH101RF Breakout Board (FH101RFBOB) is built around the RFicient® FH101RF radio receiver and contains all essential components for operation, such as RF signal filtering, matching network and clock generation. It offers a cost-effective solution for integrating the receiver into existing applications. All required signals are implemented on a 0.1(in) pin header and the antenna connection is made via SMA connectors. The board is designed for reception on the 433/868/915/2G4 bands and is available in two versions, EU and NON_EU, which differ in the SAW filter configuration.
