The new CAN to Ethernet gateway EtherCAN/3-FD offers a wide range of possible applications.It has one Ethernet and two galvanically isolated CAN FD interfaces.
The gateway enables remote access to CAN bus systems via Ethernet. CAN ID based filtering and forwarding mechanisms in the device ensure that the Ethernet bandwidth and thus the CPU load are minimized.
In addition, two EtherCAN/3-FD modules can operate autonomously in bridge mode to establish a securely encrypted TCP/IP connection between two CAN network segments. For added protection, a mechanical switch can be used to disable the web server thus offering less area for external attacks or unwanted reconfiguration.
