embedded world 2020 takes place as planned
embedded world 2020 will take place as planned from 25-27 February 2020 at the Nürnberg exhibition centre. NürnbergMesse is taking a comprehensive package of measures to ensure that exhibitors and visitors can participate in the exhibition safely and comfortably. Two world-leading exhibitions with over 150,000 participants (exhibitors and visitors) from all over the world have been held successfully in Nürnberg since the end of January. The preventive protective measures for our guests at the Nuremberg exhibition centre have had excellent results. A large number of other major international trade fairs have also been held in Germany in recent weeks.
Update 24.02.2020: Current press release of embedded world
NürnbergMesse expects approximately 900 exhibitors in the halls. The fact that the number is significantly lower than last year is due to the spread of the coronavirus, which has prevented some companies from exhibiting at the exhibition. "We have never held an exhibition under such complex, global conditions before. Unfortunately, the effects of the corona situation on this fair cannot be completely avoided. We regret, but respect the fact that a number of companies will now not be attending the fair at short notice. Nevertheless, we are convinced that embedded world is attractive and worthwhile for exhibitors and visitors again this year," says Dr. Roland Fleck, CEO of NürnbergMesse.

Media reports from the weekend, 22 and 23 February 2020, focus on corona infections in Italy. As a purely precautionary measure, we are monitoring the situation in northern Italy and are following the recommendations of the authorities, according to which nothing generally stands in the way of major events in Germany.
We are in contact with the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior as well as with the local authorities such as the health authorities and the police headquarters.
The Federal Ministry of Health has ordered special security measures for the entry of air travellers from China:
What arrangements have been made?
The health authorities at the airports in Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Munich and Berlin are collaborating closely with the Robert Koch Institute and the Federal Ministry of Transport and have prepared information material for travellers arriving from China. Additional, possible measures will continually be under joint scrutiny depending on the risk assessment for Germany.
What measures have been put in place to recognise suspected cases as early as possible?
_Pilots on flights from China are are required to inform air traffic control on the health status of their passengers before landing.
_Travellers from the affected areas will be required to fill in landing cards giving information on their flight and stating where they will be staying for the 30 days following landing. Airlines will distribute the landing cards and transmit the completed cards to the public health offices for safekeeping.
_Doctors, clinics and laboratories are required to report any cases where there is reasonable suspicion of the disease.
_The Robert Koch Institute is being granted even greater coordination powers. This has already been decided by mutual understanding.

Update from 17.02.2020
The public health department of the city of Nuremberg confirmed Monday 17.02.2020, that the risk situation due to the corona virus has not changed in Nuremberg, Bavaria and Germany. Since 14.02.2020, a new regulation of the Federal Ministry of Health has been in force, according to which all passengers on all direct flights from China to Germany must provide written information about themselves on board, including whether they have recently been in the crisis areas or had contact with sick people.
Air travellers from China will now be asked even more precisely than before about possible corona virus contact after their arrival in Bavaria and Hesse. Should a person be reported, the medical service at the airport will be informed, a doctor will examine the passenger on board and decide on the further procedure. The Federal Ministry of Health had ordered a corresponding procedure based on recommendations of the EU Health Council. Currently, there are direct flights from China only to Bavaria and Hesse.
Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn commented: "When entering Germany from China, we must know who has had contact with infected patients and who comes from infected areas. This will enable concrete testing at the airport. This is a method appropriate to the situation, in order to prevent the corona virus from spreading in Germany and Europe. This is what we decided at the EU Health Council on Thursday. And so we are now implementing it directly at national level. This coordinated approach with our European partners was important to me. Because only together will we contain the epidemic."

- Will Chinese people also participate in the exhibition or will the exhibition deny access to Chinese people?
NürnbergMesse is an international exhibition venue and of course exhibitors and visitors from China will also take part in our events. There is no reason to deny access to our exhibitions to persons of a specific nationality – in this case: from China - for safety or health reasons. - How many Chinese companies participate in embedded world?
Around 100 companies are currently registered for embedded world 2020. About 5% of them come from the Hubei region and the city of Wuhan. We do not expect these companies to take part at the exhibition. - How many visitors do you expect from China?
We are expecting significantly less visitors from China than in 2019, but it will be around 1% of the total number of visitors. - Have Chinese exhibitors or visitors already cancelled their visit?
Only Chinese guests from Wuhan have so far cancelled their visit to Nürnberg due to understandable reasons - otherwise we are happy to welcome the world to our exhibitions in Nürnberg. - Is there no possibility of infection on the exhibition site?
NürnbergMesse ensures a very high standard of hygiene in the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg through a large bundle of measures such as additional disinfectant dispensers on the exhibition grounds and increased cleaning in heavily frequented areas such as entrances, door handles or staircases.
The first-aid stations are increasingly manned and are optimally prepared and equipped for the relevant scenarios professionally, medically and with the appropriate equipment. Structured procedures are fixed in several languages, so that even if undifferentiated symptoms occur, professional clarification and medical support is provided as quickly as possible.
NürnbergMesse is closely networked with the responsible safety and rescue authorities and is a member of a task force of the local health authority. The local, national and global development of the corona virus is monitored around the clock by the security department of NürnbergMesse, so that the prepared security measures can be intensified and implemented in stages at any time in a very short reaction time.
Irrespective of the corona virus, it can never be ruled out that, despite very high hygiene standards, one can also become infected during a visit to the exhibition. - Does NürnbergMesse recommend self-isolation or self-quarantine?
No, as the German authorities do not recommend this measure either. - Does NürnbergMesse implement security measures such as thermal imaging cameras at the entrances/mouth protection for everyone?
No, according to the Federal Centre for Health Education (BZgA), thermal imaging cameras or "mouthguards for everyone" are of little help when it comes to the "coronavirus" issue. Instead, the BZgA recommends good hand hygiene as the most important and effective measure for personal protection. See also:

The meeting of EU health ministers in Brussels notes that EU Member States essentially have well established health systems and are able to respond to all eventualities. The EU Member States will also closely follow the WHO recommendations on corona virus. NürnbergMesse is also following these measures and decisions. The current measures developed for the protection of exhibitors and visitors in the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg are abosulutely appropriate.
