Huge investments in display capacity continue to be made in China. Modelling against demand predicts continual over-capacity, with hyper-competition leading to losses. The talk will examing the likely scenarios for the industry, of capacity retirements and the likely winners to emerge. Politics is now becoming a significant factor in considering the future shape of the industry. The talk will also investigate how political and tariff barriers may change the structure of the display business. Finally the talk will consider the new applications that offer growth opportunities to escape the commodity trap.
