Ultra Low Power Hands-on Workshop
This Ultra Low Power workshop focuses on the possibilities for reduction of energy consumption in embedded systems. We argue that energy consumption is a system issue and therefore a matter of making compromises. Energy consumption can be reduced by software, but only so far as hardware allows. There are many things that can be done to reduce energy consumption. The goal is to define an approach for achieving less energy consumption. Hands-on exercises help to make things more concrete. Current ULP hardware is used and explained. We will look at various MCU family infrastructures that offer support for ULP operation. Battery technology and energy harvesting possibilities are discussed. Energy consumpion of different IoT radio technologies are compared Conclusion: Many (unexpected) things can have a big impact on your achievable battery lifetime. Look beyond just the CPU/processor and software in order to achieve better results. Limited seats!
