Session 2.5: Communication V Wireless Multiprotocol

Taking Mesh Networking Mainstream Vortragssprache Englisch

Mesh networking is a powerful wireless technology that for decades has been used in M2M applications – so why isn't mesh networking a larger part of the IoT conversation? Limited functionality and widespread accessibility of tools have made mesh networking technologies challenging to leverage for a large number of consumer and industrial IoT use cases. But the days of M2M are now behind us, and the advancements required to bring mesh networking to the forefront of the IoT narrative are finally here. Mesh networking technologies are evolving to become a critical component serving the Internet of Things, and the added benefit of Cloud interoperability with local Mesh networks make them far more dynamic than in the past. In this session, we'll explore why Mesh networking is the next major technological wave for IoT solutions, the key technologies and platforms that are enabling this breakthrough (including the Nest OpenThread protocol), and how developers can gain access and training on the latest tools to implement mesh networking in their IoT products. Attendees will walk away with a deeper understanding of: - The opportunity today's ecosystem provides for mesh networking - Why Thread is uniquely differentiated among mesh networking technologies - How the evolution of cloud technologies is supporting innovation with mesh - Key use cases and IoT challenges where mesh networking provides a solution - Why open source and open standards are critical to advancing the IoT industry
