System and Device Design Recommendations for CAN FD Networks Vortragssprache Englisch

Most of the leading carmakers will use CAN FD networks in the next generations of passenger cars and commercial vehicles. ISO has already published the related standards (ISO 11898 and ISO 16845 series). They describes the protocol and the transceivers. What is missing are recommendations and guidelines to design devices and network systems. SAE and CiA have developed some recommendations for CAN FD based ECUs and network design rules. The paper will summarize the proposed recommendations and will give an outlook on further design guidelines, which are still under developed. This includes cable specifications and requirements for ringing suppression circuitries and usage of common-mode chokes.
