Software-centric cyber-physical systems are assuming an ever-increasing role in the control of potentially dangerous equipment while managing confidential information. This applies to fly-by-wire aircraft, nuclear power plants, industrial control systems, power generation as well as smaller-scale devices, such as drive-by-wire automobiles, microwave ovens, and medical equipment. This talk discusses model-based approaches for safety analysis to specify appropriate architectural and designs.
