Old Law and New Technology - How Can Legislation Keep Pace? Vortragssprache Englisch

The technical development advances rapidly with innovative power. For companies and product developers, it is important to know, which liability risks exist in Industry 4.0. The lecture explains the German liability system and its impact on technical developments. The most important aspects of civil law, criminal law and public law are analysed and brought in the context of hardware and software development. Further, it is discussed in which constellations claims for damages are to be expected. So-called dilemma situations in the legal context are used to present the legal situation. Also non-answered questions of the applicable law are investigated. We will have a look at who will be liable for certain aspects during development and use of a product. In addition, the presentation shows how awareness can be generated to avoid mistakes in the above context. This is the only way to avoid legal liability. You gain insight into the legal liability system and the current state of the discussion around electronic systems and in general technical products. You learn how to reduce the causes of damage and thus avoid a business-related disadvantage, e.g. claims for recourse, recall actions and damage to the image. This means you invest in product quality in a wider sense and therefore gain a valuable competitive advantage. In addition, you will be taught how to minimize uncertainties in product development by mitigating the risk. This will maintain your innovative power and strengthen finally the related business.
