Migrating Legacy Software Applications to Model-Based and AUTOSAR: an Introduction to a Programmatic Approach
The model-based design software technique is growing fast in the sectors where the previous “software legacy” or target independent is still the main used methodology. The chance to introduce some model based design techniques gives several cues for software re-engineering. The applications developed with this last approach give major benefits in terms of verification and validation, maintainability and the chance to use complex operative conditions. In the porting of a “legacy software” there is the crucial need to identify the software functionalities by isolating the operative software units and by identifying the existence relations. This problem is intense in the automotive sector where the use of software legacy, used in previous experience, is widespread. This is in contrast with AUTOSAR which make use of standard functionalities and requirements. The aim of this paper is to present a framework ables to automatize the model creation, the implementation of the Interface Control Documents and the automatic code verification starting from a software legacy code. Starting from functionalities the main steps of the idea are the segmentation of functional requirements, the interfaces identification and the mechanism of information flow in order to make the correct control laws, which correspond to right simulating models and: they will present in a homogeneous way with a central logic box with inputs and outputs.
