The variety and complexity of modern technical developments make its necessary to know the liability issues which are related to Industry 4.0. It is important to produce high-quality products to avoid damage to humans. Risks must be mitigated to minimise uncertainties of product development and thus to gain competitive advantages for the companies. The lecture explains the German liability system and its impact on innovations. The most important aspects of civil law, criminal law and public law are analysed in the context of hardware and software development.
