Introduction to OpenAMP: An Open Source Standard and API for Asymmetric Multiprocessing Systems
Today’s complex system-on-chip (SoC) architectures are combining more application-class and microcontroller-class cores than ever before. As a result, consolidation of heterogeneous operating environments on a single device is much harder to achieve – and more difficult for developers to utilize the underlying hardware. Acknowledging the design complexities of AMP architectures, The Multicore Association® (MCA) has created the OpenAMP™ standard. In this session, you will learn about the trend towards Heterogeneous multiprocessing and AMP using OpenAMP. You will also learn more about the origins of OpenAMP, its core capabilities and configurations, component architecture, APIs and usage, AMP system design workflow, and the usage models for OpenAMP. Finally, you will learn more about the current community activities and proposed improvements.
