How The Industry’s First Serial NAND With Octal Interface Achieves Lower Cost But Higher Data Through-put Winbond
Octal NAND, a new solution from Winbond, follows the compatible Flash I/F with Octal series, and additionally satisfies the requirements for the on-board Flash memory. Density range of Octal NAND, by adopting NAND technology is realize the world's first 1Gbit capacity in a single chip of Octal interface products, and the product series plans to have line-up 2Gbit and 4Gbit by chip stacking 2 chips and 4 chips. With this increase density and same hardware interface as traditional, system designers will be able to develop and handle even sudden increase software. The read thru-rate, the industry's first NAND flash with Octal interface, realizes maximum 240 MB/s with 8-bit bus width and frequency of 240 MHz in equivalent for single data rate. This means that the data on Flash can be transferred to the system at high speed during system boot-up, which contributes to instant startup. In this presentation, we will introduce the design technology how to realize these cutting-edge functions.
