High Image Quality for Embedded Vision Applications
What does high image quality mean? Not for every vision application the key criteria are the same. In this presentation the audience will learn about camera and sensor technology basics and about the parameters that affect the image quality. The introduction includes the basics of how light is captured and turned into electrons which are accumulated in the image sensor. The presentation will then talk about the noise sources of a camera system and how these determine the image quality. It provides answers to the question: What parameters are important (such as dynamic range, pixel size, read-noise …) when judging image quality or selecting the right camera. Also, the different shutter types will be explained and how they influence the captured images. Additionally, the EMVA1288 will be mentioned as a standard and tool which provides information to the mentioned parameters.
