Hailo-8TM: The Top Performing Deep Learning Processor for Embedded Systems Vortragssprache Englisch

Hailo, an AI-focused, Israel-based chipmaker, has developed a specialized deep learning processor that delivers the performance of a data center-class computer to edge devices. Hailo’s AI processor is the product of a rethinking of traditional computer architecture, enabling smart devices to perform sophisticated deep learning tasks such as object detection and segmentation in real time, with minimal power consumption, size, and cost. As deep learning is showing potential value in different markets, there is an increasing need to be able to run inference efficiently on edge devices. In this talk we will focus on aspects of designing a processor for AI workloads. We will review the fundamental characteristics of deep learning algorithms, analyze the challenges they introduce to the classical Von-Neuman processing approach and review the guidelines to building more efficient domain specific processing architecture. We will introduce Hailo’s holistic solution which is based on an innovative architecture, achieving best in class performance and efficiency for deep learning processing at the edge.
