Benchmarking Embedded Hypervisors Performance - the Facts
Security and functional safety are two key elements of embedded system development, and increasingly system architects are looking at solutions at the point where software touches the hardware. Processor architecture extensions such as hardware virtualization and embedded hypervisor software take advantage of these new architectural features. But what is the performance impact of virtualization? Is the hypervisor software going to slow down the whole system? Should we worry about interupt latency or excessive memory requirements? And most importantly: what is the right framework for benchmarking hypervisors performance? To address these points, prpl Foundation Chief Security Strategist, Cesare Garlati, will be joined on stage by Markus Levy, President of industry alliance EEMBC. Garlati and Levy will share with the audience results from the first global benchmarking of SoC hypervisors developed in collaboration with the prpl Foundation. This session will provide essential learnings for attendees looking to pick through the hype to gain real actionable insight into the emerging market for hypervisors and how to approach the performance evaluation of these new hardware/software architectures.
