Autonomous driving: Braking the Drive-Find-Fix Barrier Company:
Validation of autonomous driving systems is identified to be the bottleneck in this domain with efforts several orders of magnitude above validation activities of conventional systems. Simulation based approaches promise to address this new challenge. This presentation outlines a specific approach to be innovative, flexible and efficient in combining simulation and sensor data driven validation. Cornerstones of the approach is simulation of sensors such as camera, radar or lidar, in the loop simulation with the environment (scenarios, traffic) as well as augmentation of sensor data (recorded or simulated). A specific focus is also on the ability to work on unlabeled recorded image streams – e.g. from front camera of a vehicle.
