Session 07 II - Embedded Vision II - Architecture & Development II

Accelerating the Development of Intelligent, Vision-Enabled Devices at the Edge Vortragssprache Englisch

The future looks promising for embedded vision systems. Exciting new applications are coming to market. One key to their success will be designers’ ability to continually improve performance and utility. Today, mobile platforms have expanded and gone beyond smartphones and tablets. Often they are used in industrial display systems for M2M applications and Industry 4.0 implementations, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Infotainment applications for automotive, DSLR cameras, drones, virtual reality (VR) systems and medical equipment. What today’s embedded vision system designers are looking for is flexible connectivity to address evolving interface requirements, energy-efficient image signal processing and hardware acceleration. As intelligence at the edge continues to rise, applications will require integrated embedded vision technology. Solutions such as Lattice’s Embedded Vision Development Kit are accelerating the adoption of mobile-influenced technology for numerous applications including machine vision, smart surveillance cameras, robotics, AR/VR, drones and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The combination of several products optimized for different functions in a single, modular platform helps the development of next-generation intelligent, vision-enabled devices. This combination not only provides customers with an integrated solution for developing designs, but also at a low-cost and faster time-to-market. Lattice’s Embedded Vision Development Kit is a first-of-its-kind DevKit optimized for mobile-influenced system designs that require flexible, cost effective and low power image processing architectures. The solution combines the CrossLink mobile bridging FPGA, ECP5 low power, small form factor FPGA, along with a high-bandwidth, high-resolution HDMI ASSP, to offer an innovative solution that accelerates development of intelligent, vision-enabled devices at the edge. This single, modular platform offers the right balance of flexibility and energy efficiency required for a variety of embedded vision applications in the industrial, automotive and consumer markets. The CrossLink input board includes dual-camera HD image sensors that support its MIPI CSI-2 interface, eliminating the need for external video sources. In addition, the ECP5 base board enables low-power pre and post processing, and includes support for HD image signal processing (ISP) and intellectual property (IP) from Helion Vision. Also included in the Embedded Vision Development Kit is a NanoVesta connector which helps to support external image sensor video inputs. Finally, the HDMI output board, based on the Sil1136 non-HDCP version, enables connectivity to standard HDMI displays. This session will highlight first-hand accounts of case studies and business implementations from Lattice’s ecosystem of partners and customers. It will touch on the advantages and disadvantages of using a modular model, as well as key learnings from developers.
