400G+ Hyperscale Data Centers with 56G Ethernet PHY IP
The data traffic across servers, switches, and storage for achieving tasks such as deep learning, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and more are driving the need for new data center architectures. Efficient data connectivity between machines has become vital to support 400G+ Ethernet data rates. Due to the increasing data traffic, hyperscale data centers are implementing new network topologies like the leaf-spine two-layer design to enable a low latency and scalable communication in a data center environment. In addition, organizations like the IEEE and Optical Internetworking Forum have defined standards to support the required channel type and reach performance. The Ethernet PHY IP architecture is also going through a fundamental shift by transitioning to the PAM-4 modulation scheme, allowing high bandwidth and long reach.
This presentation highlights the 400G Ethernet market trends and explains in detail the shift in Ethernet PHY IP technology to support the increasing data rates for today’s hyperscale data centers.
