CE Certification of radio devices: A radio device must fulfil the requirements set in the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) 2014/53/EU. It in addition to Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), it covers Safety and Health essential requirements.
Other directives applicable to a radio product are RoHS 2011/65/EU and the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE Directive) Directive 2012/19/EU. If Radio is used in a medical or an automotive product or if it is a part of a machine or more vital installations, other directives may also be applicable.

FCC/ISED: Radio products entering the US market must undergo an authorisation process set by the FCC. There are two ways to obtain the authorisation: Certification process or Suppliers Declaration of Conformity (SDoC)
The certification process is the usual, more cumbersome process. Testing must be done by an accredited and FCC recognised test laboratory. All test results and other documentation are delivered to the Telecommunication Certification Body (TCB). In the SDoC process, the manufacturer ensures that the equipment complies with the appropriate technical standards. SDoC process is possible for radio equipment using pre-certified radio modules. It does not mean that testing of the final product is not required. EMC testing is always required. Other required tests depend on product implementation.
The ISED process used in Canada is very similar to the FCC process. Actual test specifications are very close. Thus it makes sense to run FCC and ISED processes together. The cost delta doing ISED along FCC is minor.
