Interconnecting moving elements? Compensate for differences in positioning accuracy and parallelity? Compensate for uneven surfaces? - The new series 3234 SMT pogo pin headers from W+P PRODUCTS provide secure contacts in cases in which conventional pin and socket strips just cannot do the job.
Instead of inserting a pin into a socket as in conventional connectors, the new series make the contact by touching a spring-loaded pin against a gold-plated surface. This produces a secure connection which flexibly compensates for unevenness and guarantees over 100,000 mating cycles.
This is particularly interesting in applications where breakable connections allow power and data transfers whilst at the same time providing play for the contacting process. For example in battery charging stations and battery compartments for mobile electronic devices such as smart phones, tablet PCs and laptops. W+P PRODUCTS is working with its customers to develop tailored solutions.
The new pogo pin headers have average spring travel of 1.15 mm to 1.4 mm. The spring is prestressed with 0.25 N with the spring force at the spring travel halfway point being 0.6 N. The volume resistance is less than 15 mW. The new series is available in single or double rows with 2 to 20 poles in a pitch of 2.54 mm. The contact material is a gold-plated copper alloy. The insulator is made of high-temperature resistant plastic which complies with UL94 V-0. Reliable function is guaranteed in a temperature range of -55°C to +125°C.
