When an application calls for a USB flash drive or an SD card, but requires a more rugged and secure solution, turn to the Datakey RUGGEDrive™ line. Available in capacities from 4 GB to 64 GB, RUGGEDrive™ USB and SD removable memory devices are the perfect choice for data logging/data transfer applications in harsh environments.
UFX RUGGEDrive™ Memory Tokens
UFX RUGGEDrive™ memory tokens provide USB flash drive functionality, come with a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface and are available in capacities from 4 to 64 GB. They have several advantages over consumer USB flash drives, which make them ideally suited for embedded applications outside of the consumer market:
- Ultra-Rugged Construction - UFX tokens use solid over-molded construction, making them impervious to liquids and virtually crush-proof.
- Security Features - The unique form factor of UFX tokens means that they won't plug in to standard ports found on a PC. Further, each token contains a non-changeable, unique serial number that can be used to identify/authenticate the token’s owner. It can also be used to encrypt the onboard data. Finally, unlike many consumer USB flash drives, UFX tokens have a fixed USB Vendor ID and Product ID that can also be used for authentication. Optionally, OEM-specific USB Product ID numbers can also be assigned.
- High Cycle Life Contacts - Most USB connectors are rated for only 1,500 insertion/removal cycles. At just 10 cycles per day, that connector will only last for 5 months! The contacts on RUGGEDrive™ receptacles are rated for at least 50,000 insertion/removal cycles. At the same rate, the receptacle will still be going strong nearly 14 years later!
DFX RUGGEDrive™ Memory Tokens
DFX RUGGEDrive™ memory tokens provide SD card functionality, using either an SPI or SD interface and are available in capacities from 4 to 64 GB. They have several advantages over consumer SD cards, which make them ideally suited for embedded applications outside of the consumer market:
- Ultra-Rugged Construction - DFX tokens use solid over-molded construction, making them impervious to liquids and virtually crush-proof.
- Security Features - The unique form factor of the DFX token means that they won't plug in to standard ports found on a PC. Security features that are part of the SD specification are also supported.
