Innovation based on agile series development
In February 2019, Solectrix and its cooperation partner MEKRA Lang were delighted to receive the Daimler Supplier Award in the "Innovation" category.. Today, the new Mercedes-Benz Actros is the first truck in the world with digital rearview mirrors in series production.
MEKRA Lang honored Solectrix's essential contribution to the revolutionary mirror replacement system in July 2019 with the Hans Lang Supplier Award for above-average performance and the partnership-based collaboration. As a cooperation partner, solectrix GmbH and MEKRA Lang are helping to shape the future of indirect vision for commercial vehicles using electronic mirror replacement systems.. It develops the central image processing software that processes the video data read from the HDR sensors at 60 frames per second with very low latency. The camera monitor system offers several advantages over conventional truck main and wide-angle mirrors:
- It reduces fuel consumption. The use of small, flow-optimized camera arms instead of the large-format truck side mirrors improves aerodynamics and thus reduces fuel consumption.
- It increases safety: The system offers a much better all-round visibility and thus increases traffic safety on the roads. This is made possible by the use of High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology in image acquisition and processing.
- It creates the prerequisite for future driver assistance functions like, e.g., turning assistant.
In project management and software development, Solectrix relies entirely on agile methods. The iterative approach on all levels enables us to manage the balancing act between the adherence to automotive norms, e.g., ASPICE and ISO 26262, and the greatest possible flexibility regarding changing customer requirements. The prototyping of image processing algorithms is done within a specially developed reference tool which also serves as the base for verification in series development.
