The difference between ODM and OEM
The main difference between OEM and ODM is that the OEM is proposed by the client to design the product. Regardless of who completes the overall design, the entrusted party must not provide the third-party product with the design; and the ODM is produced from design to production. The party completes it by itself and buys it after the product is formed. Whether the producer can produce the same product for a third party depends on whether the OEM has bought out the design. To put it bluntly, the difference between OEM and ODM is that the core of the product is who enjoys the intellectual property rights. If the entrusting party enjoys the intellectual property rights of the product, it is OEM, which is commonly known as “OEM”; and if it is the producer The overall design is ODM. For example, some Japanese brands of laptops are actually produced by Taiwanese manufacturers. After the event, Taiwanese notebook manufacturers can make mass production under their own brand names by modifying certain design details or accessories. The reason is that they are ODMs and OEMs for these Japanese brands. Of course, we can say that they are all produced from the same production line. The biggest difference between OEM and ODM is not just the name. OEM products are tailor-made for brand manufacturers. They can only use the brand name after production. They must not be crowned with the producer's own name for production. ODM depends on whether the brand company has bought the copyright of the product. If not, the manufacturer has the right to organize the production itself, as long as there is no design identification of the company.
