For typical IoT solutions like alarm systems, asset trackers, smart meters, smart city controllers, wearables and industrial sensors, an optimized category of Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) LTE is preferred. This includes smart city solutions, vehicle telematics, asset tracking, smart meters, retail terminals, industrial and agricultural monitors and more! In addition, LPWAN devices are much less complex allowing for cost-efficient design; and at the same time, they offer longer-range connectivity with deep indoor and underground coverage.

This is due to its ability to efficiently connect large fleets of devices, up to 50,000 per NB-IoT network cell, while minimizing power consumption and increasing coverage range in locations not served by conventional cellular technologies.
