ELinOS is a comprehensive development environment for embedded Linux software development. Unlike traditional Linux implementations, SYSGO’s ELinOS is purpose-built for use in demanding industrial applications. SYSGO brings almost 20 years of field expertise to make an embedded Linux offering well suited for real-world complex applications, and to back it up with world-class support. Many BSPs corresponding to the most successful boards on the market are included as well as BSPs for virtualization engines such as QEMU and VMware, or for the other SYSGO flagship product PikeOS. Besides the widely-used x86 version, ELinOS also supports PowerPC-, ARM-, MIPS-, SPARC and SH-platforms. ELinOS includes CODEO, the Eclipse based development environment that provides guided configuration, remote debugging (often down to the hardware instruction level), target monitoring, remote application deployment, and timing analyses in addition to standard application development features such as compilers and assemblers.
The latest version ELinOS 6.2 has been released in Q3 2017 and is aligned with the Yocto project based kernels. It is based on the latest Linux 4.9 (Long Term Supported) kernel so that the customer can profit from up to the edge features and performance. We have added ELinOS Security Services that give notifications about common vulnerabilities affecting ELinOS. The effort for package updates during development cycle is reduced and early integration warnings in form of failed builds and product tester results are given. Additionally to the wide quantity of supported architectures we now added a new family member: NXP PPC e5500 (64Bit).
