Economical solutions for SMT prototyping
After structuring the circuit board, further steps follow. For through-hole plating, solder resist and labeling, LPKF provides processes that do not require additional machines. Special systems for the laboratory are available for application of soldering paste, placement of SMD components and reflow soldering:
- The LPKF ProtoPrint S is a precision manual stencil printer. This tabletop model can be used for prototypes and for small batches of fine pitch SMT boards. On-contact fine-pitch printing, precise vertical separation between stencil and PCB, and slow snap-off provides superb printing results.
- LPKF ProtoPlace S is a system for manual assembly of printed circuit boards. A dispenser for soldering paste and adhesive and a pneumatic lowering device for the components speed up the assembly process. The LPKF ProtoPlace has a fine manipulator and can be equipped with a vacuum table, a camera, a component carousel and additional feeders.
- The LPKF ProtoFlow S solders the assembled components to the printed circuit board with hot air (lead-free in accordance with RoHS). For this, they are conveyed into the convection oven by a motorized drawer. Process control can be done on the PC and an optional protective gas feed and separate temperature sensors help with the processing of sensitive components.
The systems have a working surface of up to 230 x 305 millimeters and provide a particularly economical solution for professional rapid PCB prototyping at LPKF’s usual high quality.
