Why use Virtual Keys?
Paired with AMT’s PhotoReal décor glass, PenMount Virtual Keys create a beautiful user experience while maintaining the true flat aesthetic that defines PCAP touch technology. PenMount Virtual Keys simplify hardware and software design with all functions provided by the PenMount PCAP touch controller. Implementation is easy with PenMount firmware and setting adjustment is quick and intuitive through the PenMount Virtual Key AP.
The PenMount Advantage
Normally, if buttons are required, function buttons are embedded separately with physical trace connected to the PCAP controller independent of the PCAP circuit. Since each button requires a separate signal to the controller, the number of PCAP controller signal pins and the complexity of the touch panel trace will limit button quantity and functionality.
PenMount’s method uses the same circuit path in the virtual button area as the PCAP touch panel active area. The advantages of this method are reduced controller signal connection pin usage, conservation of touch panel signal trace, reduction of overall touch panel border area, and increased button functionality.
PenMount’s Virtual Key firmware feature is the most convenient virtual keyboard on the market for PCAP touch panels. PenMount Virtual Keys replace mechanical keypads and buttons and can be assigned keyboard shortcuts, hotkeys, and more. In addition, PenMount’s Virtual Key AP allows users to change button size, position, and definitions on the fly. Users can place buttons anywhere within the PCAP touch panel active area with no limit to button size and PenMount virtual buttons support multi-key input such as “Ctrl + Alt + A.”
