Gamma V offers an intelligent data model for structuring and administrating arbitrary amounts of data as well as the facility for message based (serialized) communication. Hardware and operating system are bridged and unified by an abstraction layer and I/O components can be directly mapped to process variables in unlimited quantities. A flexible timing model with multicore and multiprocessing capable scheduler is provided for process control. Comprehensive simulation and logging functions make Gamma V the ideal choice modern test platforms. The most important part of developing modern applications lies in governing and processing communications. Processes need to exchange data and coordinate their actions. Sensors deliver data and actuators need to be driven. The Gamma V platform supports all relevant forms of communication. Gamma V distinguishes three different forms of communication that complement each other:
- the use of central data models in shared memory
- message based / serialized communication between processes
- buffered data streams (FIFO)
