Our trainees are the cornerstone of our success. Of around 70 commercial employees at Schukat, more than 50 completed their vocational training with us – with many now holding leadership positions. They are well prepared for this, with many of our trainees undertaking higher education studies alongside their work during or after their traineeship. Every year, our trainees deliver above-average exam performance, with several achieving results of “very good.” We are regularly honoured with a "special commendation" for "outstanding performance in vocational training" by the Düsseldorf Chamber of Commerce. In addition, in 2014, we received the Dusseldorf Chamber of Commerce Prize for Education and Training – awarded to "a company that has made an outstanding contribution to the education of young people." We have also been the recipients of the Federal Employment Agency certificate for our "exemplary training". Our partner school is the Peter Ustinov Comprehensive School in Monheim. We systematically connect the knowledge gained at school with the business world, with practical experience days, art projects, and regular discussion rounds between students and our trainees.
Since 1990, we have printed all of our correspondence on 100% recycled paper. Our company premises meet the low-energy standard. We are exclusive users of green electricity. Packing materials are separated and collected for recycling. And for more than 25 years, one of our directors has been riding a bicycle to work – if he has not yet started coming here in his BMW i3 electric car, like our other director :-)
For 20 years, we supported Catholic nun Sister Benita in her efforts to establish a school and college in Zimbabwe. In 2013, we turned to the work of the ecumenical Taizé brothers in northern Brazil. In a poverty stricken district, the brothers offer food, education and care for children from poor homes and broken families, helping in the fight against child labour and drug dependency. In addition, we support our own community projects and contribute to schools in Monheim am Rhein.
