APIX™, APIX™2 and APIX™3 are the company's flagship product lines that have delivered major advancements in digital multimedia transmission, particularly in the automotive, industrial and transportation market segments.
With its APIX™ technology, Inova has grown in line with the booming automotive display and camera market. In 2010, the second-generation APIX 2 platform increased performance by 300%. The BMW 7 series launched in 2008 was the first motor vehicle with APIX technology onboard.
Since 2008, further high-end brands such as BMW, Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo, Mini, Bentley, Lamborghini, Rolls Royce und Alfa Romeo have adopted APIX technology and more automakers are set to join the club shortly. Inova is firmly committed and focussed on the fast-growing segments of automotive infotainment and advanced driver assistance systems.
The company’s strategy has been to establish APIX as the de-facto standard in the automotive industry. By building long-term partnerships with key automotive component manufacturers, system partners and through the licensing of APIX IP to Socionext, Toshiba, Analog Devices and Cypress, a solid foundation has been established.
The next-generation APIX 3 family now being introduced is backward compatible with APIX 2 and addresses the increasing demands of 4k-type displays and domain computing architectures in the infotainment space and next-generation advanced driver assistance systems.
In 2018, there will be approximately 80 Million APIX interfaces "on the road" worldwide, i.e. approx. 25 million Inova-brand and 55 million licensed products, growing strongly at a rate of 2 million installed units per month.
ISELED – the digital LED concept
Inova Semiconductors has recently entered the emerging smart digital LED market under the ISELED™ brand name as member of an open industry-wide alliance.
Inova developed the new "digital LED" concept for automotive applications in close cooperation with BMW. This innovation is based on an embedded smart LED controller housed in a compact 3mm x 4mm package together with a red, green and blue LED. The scalability of the solution is set to drive down costs and open up new market opportunities.
The sophisticated calibration features of this "digital RGB LED" with embedded controller will eliminate the need for binning classes or bar coding. Every LED now renders the same color and brightness over the full temperature range to deliver highly consistent illumination even at currently unattainable LED manufacturing tolerances. Look-up tables and calibration are also eliminated since LED calibration data is already stored inside the embedded controller.
Inova's high-speed communications protocol allows every LED to be individually addressed, and with data rates of up to 2Mbit/s, promises fast, dynamic in-car lighting effects.
The first ISELED™ products are now available for streamlined automotive interior, ambient and functional light applications.
