liaHDR stands for “live immersive adaptive High Dynamic Range”. The eponymous project had Solectrix develop two variants of a 360° camera system capturing panoramic images with high dynamic range (HDR). The goal of the project was to find a general solution that enables an immersive HDR from recording to playback, from glass to glass, for instance for high-end live broadcasting and music live recording.
Automatic dynamics adaptation enables backward compatibility to standard displays (non-HDR) without giving up the more immersive visual experience. Changing light conditions, for example at an open-air soccer match, can thus easily be offset. Solectrix developed a high-end variant of the multi-camera system for the broadcast field and a miniature variant in the shape of a camera sphere for the automotive field.
liaHDR is a collaboration of three partners: The faculty of engineering of the RheinMain University of Applied Sciences, the Solectrix GmbH in Nuremberg and the sonoVTS GmbH in Feldkirchen near Munich. The project is being co-financed by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy as part of its Central Innovation Programme for SMEs.
