The iLCD Simulator enables the developer to test iLCD projects without having a panel physically connected. Simulation behaves like a real panel with all of its interfaces, inputs and outputs. This functionality allows user interface evaluation in an early project stage and contributes to development process acceleration. Simulation is also advantageous in projects involving numerous stakeholders or when development is carried out at different geographical locations. Project changes can be made immediately and be distributed to other stakeholders by means of the adapted iLCD project file.
To get started, simply launch the iLCD Simulator and upload the project. All currently available iLCD Panels are included. The control menu within the simulator window allows iLCD model selection and includes many features such as iLCD input/output configuration and “virtual” panel rebooting. The status line shows the current digital output and relay/PWM output states as well as the display brightness. Touch fields are activated by a mouse click. After the simulation, the project file can be stored on the iLCD, the hardware can be connected and the HMI can be tested under real conditions. The final application is then released as an iLCD project and distributed. Evaluation kits are available with all iLCD models for trial, test and prototyping allowing for a quick and easy start.
With the iLCD Simulator, the appearance and functionality of a graphical user interface can be tested before the first prototype with a “real” iLCD exists. Simply installing the iLCD Manager XE is all that is needed to start the iLCD Simulator and upload an iLCD project for testing. This is also possible with the included Demo and Sample projects.
