INOVA Semiconductors is a fab-less semiconductor manufacturer. INOVA Semiconductors has been founded in 1999. The headquarters of the company is located in Munich, Germany. It is designing, marketing and selling its products and licensing technologies directly and through a global network of distributors, with a strong commitment to the automotive market.
GigaSTaR™, GigaSTaR-DDL™, APIX™, APIX™2 and APIX™3 are the product lines who have achieved major advancements in digital multimedia transmission particularly in the Automotive, Industrial and Transportation markets.
In November 2016 Inova Semiconductors announced the entrance of a new business field – digital LEDs and is marketing its technologies in this field under the ISELED™ brand.
The core competence of Inova Semiconductors is the development of semiconductors for high-speed digital data transmission for harsh requirements. First products in the portfolio were the GigaSTaR and GigaSTaR-DDL product lines, a lead technology in sub segments in Industrial, Transportation and Medical markets.
With the introduction of displays and cameras into cars, Inova entered the automotive market with its APIX (Automotive PIXel Link) technology, followed by APIX2 in 2010, increasing performance by 300%. The BMW 7 series launched in 2008 was the first car on the road with APIX technology inside.
Since then, further major brands such as Rolls Royce, Mini, Bentley, Lamborghini, Volvo, Jaguar Land Rover and Alfa Romeo also have adopted the APIX technology and further OEMs will follow shortly. Inova is committed and strongly focussed on the growing segment of infotainment and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems in the automobile.
The company’s goal is to establish APIX as de-facto standard in the automotive market. Through strategic partnerships with key automotive component manufacturers, system partners and - in addition - by licensing the APIX IP to Socionext, Toshiba, Analog Devices and Cypress, the foundation is laid for.
In February 2016 a first product based on the next generation of the APIX technology – APIX 3 – has been introduced. Though still an APIX2 compatible product, it is the foundation for an APIX3 product family addressing needs for 4k type of displays and domain computing architectures in the infotainment space as well as the next generation Advanced Driver Assistances Systems.
In November 2016, about 55 Million APIX interfaces are worldwide “on the road” – about 15 Mio. Inova- and 30 Million license products - increasing at a rate of 2 Million per month.
In November 2016 at Electronica Inova Semiconductor announced the entrance of a new business field – digital LEDs. The company will sell its products under ISELED™ brand initially targeting automotive interior and ambient light applications. The technology revolutionizes the use of LEDs – now digitally and bus controlled – in the car, abolishing LED binning, introducing diagnostics and resulting in a significant total system cost reduction.
