Economical Solutions for SMT Prototyping
Other steps must be performed after the board has been structured. LPKF offers processes for through-hole plating, solder mask coating, and assembly without the use of additional machines. Special laboratory systems are available for solder paste application, SMD placement, and reflow soldering:
• LPKF ProtoPlace S is a system used for manual assembly of PCBs. A dispenser for solder paste and glue and a pneumatic part-lowering feature accelerate the assembly process. The LPKF ProtoPlace has a fine manipulator and can be upgraded with a vacuum table, a camera, a parts turret, and additional feeders.
• The LPKF ProtoFlow S solders the assembled components to the board using hot air, thus meeting RoHS lead-free requirements. The boards are conveyed on a motorized rack into a forced air (convection) oven. Process control can be done on the PC. Optional protective gas feed-in and separate temperature sensors aid in the processing of delicate components.
The systems have a working surface of up to 230 x 305 mm and represent a particularly economical solution for professional LPKF-quality PCB prototyping.
