High performance embedded PC as a building block for specific baseboards or client-specific ODM designs
The flat panel display specialist Data Modul has expanded its expertise to new heights and started with the first building block specifically manufactured for the highest performance demands: the COM Express basic module with a type 6 pinout. This module is available with optional Intel® Core™ or 5th generation Xeon® processors (Broadwell-H). Cost-effecitve Intel® Core® 4th generation CPU (Haswell-H) and Celeron CPU variants will also be made available.
The eDM-COMB-BW6 provides the highest computing power in the most compact spaces and thanks to the integrated Intel®Iris Pro technology currently Intel's most powerful processor graphic.
The upper level of the eDM-COMB-BW6 is fitted with the latest 14nm Quad-Core Intel® Core™ and Xeon® processors and has a 6MB L2 cache with a TDP of 37-47 watts. The middle level is equipped with a 22nm dual core Intel® Core™i5 and Intel® Core™i3 with a 3MB L2 cache and a TDP of 25-37 watts. The lower level also has a 22nm dual core Intel® Celeron® 2002E variant with a 2MB L2 cache and a TDP of 25 watts.
Depending on the processor used, the integrated graphics offers the latest Intel® HD GT1 to GT3e graphics generation with a 128MB "on package" cache memory. This Intel® Iris™ Pro graphic makes it possible to enhance performance up to 125% in comparison with the GT2 graphic engine.
Compatible with providing fluid HD video reproduction are DirectX 11.2, OpenGL 4.3, OpenCL 2.0, as well as hardware MPEG-2 decoding, WMV9 (VC-1), H.264 (AVC) and Blu-ray with 40 MBit/s. Up to three independent displays with a 4k@60Hz resolution can be controlled at the same time, even when the display content is different. Available display interfaces include 3 x DP++/HDMI/DVI. Also 1x VGA and 1x dual channel 24bit LVDS. Optional an eDP (embedded display port) instead of an LVDS can be mounted. This provides a solid "Plug&Play" application for the new high definition 4k TFTs with an eDP port without re-designing the client’s baseboard.
Apart from the defined interfaces of COM Express type 6 standards, various additional functions and custom I/Os can be realized using the Data Modul board controller. Multi stage watchdog, additional UARTs and GPIOs, I²C bus, RTM, production and board information, power sequencer & monitor, runtime logger and even the CAN controller, which is commonly used in many industrial systems.
