The sensor platforms are based on the IEEE standard 802.15.4 and use the 2,4 GHz ISM-Band. As they run Contiki OS and 6LoWPAN they are the ideal addition for your "Internet of Things"-Application.
The first generation of the platform has an integrated humidity- and temperaturesensor and has extention boards for hall sensor, motor control, LEDs, CO- and CO²-Sensors. Additonally there are boards for power supply with energy harvesting. Therefore the sensor can be operated using a solar cell.
The newest generation of the sensorplatform uses a System-on-the-Chip (SoC), which allows integrating more functionalities without increasing the size. For instance the board comes with integrated energy harvesting chip and a second antenna. The antennas have an intelligent selection algorithm, which chooses the best antenna for ideal transmitting quality. The platform also comes with temperature, barometric pressure and altitude sensor.

To retrieve data from your wireless sensor network and configure sensors on your computer it's best to use the AED Rabbit. It allows you to connect your sensor network to an Ethernet network. The integrated website gives you the possibility to adjust the AED Rabbit and sensors according to your application.
The AED Rabbit is also based on the IEEE Standard 802.15.4 and uses the 2.4 GHz ISM-Band. Additionally to the microcontroller there is an Ethernet-chip on the PCB, which improves the performance considerably.
